“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” — Matthew 6:10 (NIV)

I have said the Lord’s prayer countless times in my life. At every church service, I grew up going to and before every football game I ever played. It was a staple to my life, though I had no idea what it really meant.

Honestly, I simply chanted it because I learned it in Sunday School and it was part of our pre-game routine for football.

Yet, this small part of scripture unlocks something that we all want to know:

What is God’s will?

Seriously. When I first became a Christian in college, I was plagued with trying to understand God’s will for my life. Was I supposed to stay in my major or career? What was I going to do with my life? Would become a missionary or pastor instead?

I had tons of questions and would get this weird canned response from other Christians, “follow God’s will.”

Well, what the heck does that mean?
