Why I Ask Jesus For Help When Problems Knock On My Door

And it’s not because I think he will do what I ask

When things come down hard on my family, they come down hard.

Not “out-on-the-street” hard, but empty our savings and cause panic attacks hard. In the last month our furnace and heat pump on our house went belly up, we lost a baby and had multiple ER visits, and had a huge tree fall on our house.

Suffice to say, the emotional, psychological, and financial shock is kicking in hard.

Never in my life did I imagine feeling everything that I feel in such a hurricane of emotions. On top of the fact, we are still trying to keep our heads above the water in grief while caring for our other children.

It’s damn hard.

Yet, this morning, I finally sat and asked God for help. That’s right, all of this has been going on in the last month, but I finally asked him for help. Sure, I’d been praying for my wife. I’d prayed for the child we lost. But I didn’t do any praying for myself.

Until this morning.

I just asked for help. Or for him to fix my problems or for anything extravagant. All I want is what I need. And he is the best one to k ow what I need right now.
