Why Daily Bible Reading Isn’t Enough

The Bible is important, but it’s not the end

Over the last couple of years, I have seen a huge emphasis on reading your Bible. In fact, that emphasis seems to be taking over the church. It is as if pastors across the world have decided that reading your Bible daily, is the best bare minimum action you can take as a Christian.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I completely understand that reading our Bible is important to our faith. After all, we have verses such as these to support the importance of it:

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” — Joshua 1:8, ESV

“Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” Acts 17:11, ESV

“And how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:15, ESV
