I’m wrestling with this question a lot these days. 🤼

It’s a struggle between happiness and meaning, or so I thought.

At first, I thought it was all about meaning and happiness, but now I’m unsure. Part of me feels like it is something else. Something deeper.

Before I share what I’ve learned, let’s look at happiness. Here’s what we know about it:

🙂 It’s moments of joy and pleasure that bring gratification.

🙂 It’s focused on positive emotions.

🙂 It’s tied to external circumstances and experiences.

🙂 It can be fleeting.

So, that’s a few things about happiness. So, if it’s so fleeting and focused on pleasure, circumstances, and experiences, is there something else that gives us what we want out of life?

Some would say meaning. A meaningful life would give us everything we want in life, but here is what I have discovered about that:

😀 It’s a deeper sense of purpose, significance, and fulfillment.

😀 It’s rooted in personal values, growth, and making an impact.
