This is what a leader looks like in God’s Kingdom
I was never picked first growing up. Not at anything. In fact, I was normally one of the last ones picked for just about every game or activity that I was ever involved in as a kid.
For a long time, that bothered me. I wanted to be the one picked first. I wanted to be the one everyone wanted because I equated that with being the best, the greatest.
However, something I learned later in life was how much better it is to be one of the last ones. That way, no one expected much out of you and you could surprise everyone.
For many of us who weren’t first, we thought last was better for the wrong reasons. Whether that's how we justified how others saw us or how we just felt about ourselves it wasn’t really all that healthy either.
Today, I want to propose a very different idea to you. It comes from the Gospel of Matthew and I think it will really change the way you see greatness and order in our world today. In fact, I think it will turn some things upside down for you.
