The baby begins to cry.

Mom and dad try to console her.

Yet still, the rustling fills the sky.

They swoop down all around her.

Knowing they can only try.

To bring some comfort to her.

Always they come to her side.

Whether invited or not.

They will never let it slide.

To tie up those cries in a knot.

And being the only gift they have.

The power of the shooshing is unleashed.

Within seconds the baby ceases.

Peace is restored. The baby is calm.

All thanks to the shoosh birds.

The Shoosh birds are not magical creatures that come out of nowhere in our house. They are a 6 and 4-year-old who stop what they are doing and fly to their baby sister’s side As she begins to cry.

Together they join in a chorus of shooshing their sister until she stops. Then they leave as nothing happened…

What can you do but thank the Shoosh birds?
