The New Medium App Has Come To The Desktop

How kind of Medium to welcome me back to their desktop page. I feel warm and fuzzy already. In fact, there are a few things that I find very interesting about the new homepage.

My initial thoughts on looking at my desktop version are better than my initial thoughts on the Medium App beta. Looking at this one, I actually see stories I want to read and writers I like to see what they are sharing.

Next, I find the trending on Medium information below the things I am interested in on the desktop version. Which I actually really like. And looking at these options, several of these stories I might actually be interested in reading.

The Rest Of The Lot
Lastly, we have the rest of the stories on the front page. Of these three stories, the top three for me, I actually would read all of them. This is a pleasant surprise.

The New Desktop Setup Is Far Better Than The Initial App Setup
This was a pleasant surprise this morning for me. I knew that they would take what they learned from the App and apply it to the desktop version. For me, it turned out well.
In fact, I am more pleased with this rollout of their updates than I am of how the beta version of the app rolled out.
Yet, I know there will be some folks who will draw issues. There will also be a lot of hiccups in the setup for a lot of people too. It would be interesting to see what people like and what people don’t like.
