A prophecy that applied to my life

I used to think that prophecy had died with the coming of Jesus.

To be honest, I didn’t have much of an opinion on it. For a long time, I didn’t know whether or not God would give special wisdom and knowledge to people as he did in the Old Testament.

So, I mostly just assumed he didn’t speak to people prophetically. In fact, I always assumed people who were called prophets were looney toons. But, I had this belief based on nothing more than assumption.

A few years ago, I found myself faced with a new reality. That people do hear from God. That they receive special knowledge and wisdom to share with other people. And in fact, I could experience this first hand.

What do I mean Prophecy?

Before we can really go on, it is important to focus on a few things. But first, we need to understand what I mean when I say prophecy. Now, first, I will use the terms prophecy, prophetic, and the gift of prophecy interchangeably.

To understand this better, here is a definition found from The Gospel Coalition:
