Start Renewing Your Mind and Stop Following the Patterns of the World
A look into Romans 12:1–2
It was sometime in my college years where I was first introduced to this passage of scripture. For many years, I have been thoughtfully considering the book of Romans and these particular verses.
Before I go any further, I want to look at the from the NLT Bible:
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice — the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. ”— Romans 12:1–2
Since my first introduction to these words, I have read each line over and over again in nearly every translation.
Each time, I’m drawn to the fact that God has called us to worship him and transform ourselves by renewing or changing the way we think.
And as it is our minds that guides our souls and bodies, it only makes sense that Hod wants us to turn our spirits toward him and connect with His Spirit.
