Should You Read The Bible If You Aren’t A Christian?

Of course, the answer is ‘yes’ here’s why though

Early on in my walk with God, I took a course in college called “The Bible as Literature.” It was funny how many people told me this wouldn’t be a good idea for me. Lots of people were concerned that it would distort my view of the Bible.

Which is a good concern if I look back at it. However, I had just finished a semester with a history teacher who felt it was important to tell Christians that their faith was all bunk, “like Star Trek,” he had said.

I even took it upon myself to confront him one day during his office hours. Which again, was a silly idea for a new Christian with very little understanding of the history of the church. But I did it anyway.

This professor sat with me patiently as he laid out his arguments. Then he asked me if I had read the Bible cover to cover. I confessed I had not yet but was working on it.

He told me I should read the Bible cover to cover, look for the glaring holes in its story, and then I would see that it was all made up. So, I took the Bible as Literature class so I would be forced to read the entire Bible in a semester.
