Only Then Will You Prosper
What we can learn from Joshua 1:8
“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” — Joshua 1:8 NLT
I hate it when people get hung up on the ‘duty’ of reading their Bible.
Why? Because it becomes so legalistic. Most Christians read their Bible because they are told to or believe its what they should do. It's a spiritual obligation of their religion.
Yet, I think reading the Bible is something more.
Reading Joshua 1:8 sheds light on how we can view our Bible reading. I want to propose that reading our Bible isn’t about doing things because it is the Christian way.
I propose that we read our Bible so that we can prosper and succeed.
Not The Success You Are Looking For…
This isn’t the prosperity gospel coming at your though. I don’t think this is success or prosperity in terms of money or riches. Though it could be. I do think that prosperity and success are about living out God’s Kingdom on earth.
