Living With A Hammer In One Hand And A Sword In The Other
We are living in a Nehemiah 4 time
I believe we are all in the middle of a major project.
Some time back, I was having a quiet time and trying to understand something about the season of life my family and I have been. As I spent time praying and journaling, I was reminded of one of my favorite books of the Bible, Nehemiah.
As I read through the book I felt as though I was trying to find something. I couldn’t quite figure it out. But I knew I was looking for something. In the end, I landed on this scripture:
When our enemies heard that we knew of their plans and that God had frustrated them, we all returned to our work on the wall. But from then on, only half my men worked while the other half stood guard with spears, shields, bows, and coats of mail. The leaders stationed themselves behind the people of Judah who were building the wall. The laborers carried on their work with one hand supporting their load and one hand holding a weapon. All the builders had a sword belted to their side. — Nehemiah 4:15–18, NLT
After reading this scripture, it all became clear. We are living in a time where we have one hand on a shovel and one hand on the sword. The more I think about it, the more it becomes clear to me.
