Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”

John 21:22 (NIV)

Imagine you are sitting at a table with Jesus right now. Before you are a couple of simple meals and he is reclining in his chair. You have been talking through the reality of what it means to believe. And you have decided that you want to believe it.

“Follow me,” he says extending his hand to you.

You accept his hand and agree to follow him. He tells you that life will not always be hard. But it won’t be easy either. He shares with you that he wants you to tell others about him.

And you might even lose relationships with friends and family. But you will experience joy, peace, contentment, and freedom nevertheless.

And then you look over his shoulder and see another person who has been following Jesus for some time. You know this person and they have it all. It seems as though they have not lost fiends for family and everything seems amazing.
