John 14: We Will Do Greater Things
When We Believe We Will Do the Works of Jesus
“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” — John 14:12 (NIV)
It can be so easy for us to be discouraged in the world today. Money is tight. People we love have cancer. Relationships are broken or growing apart. There is a lot in our world that makes us feel like it can be getting worse instead of better.
When I left college I began to hear a saying pop up: “It is what it is.”
This saying was always followed by a difficult story or circumstance. And I hate it. It leaves us feeling like there is nothing we can do about anything so we should just give in to the status quo of whatever we are facing. And let life happen to us.
But I don’t think it’s true. I don’t think life “is what it is.” In fact, I believe there is a supernatural aspect to our lives whether you are a Christian or you aren’t. I believe there are forces of dark and light battling every day for our lives. And the…
