John 10: Listen to My Voice

When we believe we can hear the voice of God.

Jesus answered, “ I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” — John 10:25–28 (NIV)

Can we really hear the voice of God? Does he speak to us? Or is he simply there, watching and moving the world around us? I used to have these questions a lot in my early years of faith. And I think a lot of people do no matter how long they have believed.

But, when we believe, we can hear the voice of God.

There have been times throughout my life when I have heard his voice. Not from a burning bush like Moses, or a call in the night like Samuel, but in the stillness of my prayers. In those prayerful conversations, I have had with the one who has created me.
