Jesus Teaches With Real Authority
Quite unlike the religious authority of the time
When was the last time you heard a sermon or speaker who spoke as if they were the complete authority on the topic they were talking about?
In my experience, this is hard to come by. In our world today, we have a lot of influencers, politicians, experts, and teachers who talk as if they are the absolute authority on a topic.
Gone are the days where someone became an authority. Now, you simply have to write a book, create a course, or have a blog, and we start to see people acting like they are the complete authority on a topic.
If I’m honest, I have done this too.
But what happens when you come across someone who really is an authority on a topic? They have spent their entire life engaging in the research, study, and ongoing drive to understand one particular topic.
Most often, we find ourselves in awe of these people. We find ourselves drawn to what they are talking about. There is something special about how they communicate their topic of expertise.
Today, I want to share something I have been thinking about from the Gospel of Matthew.
