Jesus is Alive
Mark 16:5–7
When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.” — Mark 16:5–7
Growing up, the Bible was an ancient storybook to me. The characters in it were all dead and gone. The stories were ancient lessons I could learn from, but did not apply to my life, and most of all, Jesus wasn’t alive to me.
In college, this was true too. Even when I decided to place my faith in Jesus. So much of my early faith was intellectual in that I studied the Bible, I learned the context and the historical aspects to things, but Jesus still wasn’t alive to me.
And then, as I ventured out of college and into the mission field there began to be a shift. Jesus seemed much more real and tangible. Still feeling distant, there was a more interactive experience for me.
