People all over the world question God.

It’s the nature of the human experience. We see something happen in our lives or in the world and we ask God why they happen. Or, we are going through something absolutely terrible and ask God to take it away from us.

This is a natural part of humanity. In fact, it is so natural that Jesus in his humanity did the same thing:

He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” — Jesus (Matthew 26:39, NLT)

Even Jesus, as he prepared to go to the cross, went to His Father in heaven and asked if he wouldn’t need to suffer. I think this is important for us to remember here on earth.

But, before we can really see how this applies to life, let's look at where this is coming from. What is the setting? What is Jesus asking this? It will help us better see a few important things later.
