I think quiet quitting is a justification term.
I mean, I do my job. Within the hours that I am told to work. No, I won’t work extra, I have a family and other interests for my time outside of work. If I’m not getting paid extra for extra work, why would I do it?
If that is quiet quitting, well, I guess I am doing it. Here’s the thing, I’m not starting late or ending early. I’m not doing other things during work hours. I do my job during that time. That’s what I’m paid to do.
If my boss wasn’t to penalize me for not working outside of work hours because he does or “thats how its always been,” that is on him for having poor boundaries.
Penalizing people for doing their job within the requirements of their job description should require “consequences.” Their doing their job.
