I have found that it takes years of practice to actually create a steady daily Bible reading habit.

That might sound silly, but I have found myself struggling on and off for years to just get up in the morning and read my Bible before doing anything else. While it may seem a simple thing to do, there are plenty of things that keep us from doing it.

For example, my mornings are the only time I really have to write. So, I have to make sure I squeeze that time in with my Bible reading before my daughters wake up at 6:30 am. Which, if I am honest, they are always up before then. There is also the harsh reality that sometimes I am up in the night with them.

While these may sound like simple excuses, they are honest parts of my life. I understand that some people aren’t morning people. Or they have never really tried to make sure to read their Bible every day. These are all common realities.

Yet, the one thing that I have found to be true in my lifetime after time is that when I read my Bible daily, I am better prepared for the rest of my day. No matter the circumstances, or ups and downs, I am better prepared to live the rest of my life.
