My home desk has been in shambles for the past year and a half.

It’s been a complete dumpster fire. Random papers, heaps of books, and a plethora of Legos have been strewn across my desk. Not to mention the unusually large number of pens and coffee cups I’d amassed.

Now, much of the clutter and filth is due to my lack of desire to clean it. At least that is what I am telling myself. I tell my wife something else on the other hand:

“It’s a workspace, so it’s going to be messy.”

She, on the other hand, recognized this as a symptom of my lack of productivity and a reason for my poor mood over the previous year. After all, it didn’t quite go how we had planned.

I went into our den and glanced at my desk when I was sick with Covid. It was a shambles. Things were even tumbling to the ground. It was a disaster. Then I recognized it was a symptom of my work-related stress.
