How I Failed at Reading in 2019

But I Won’t in 2020, and Neither Will You

--

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” — George R.R. Martin

You know, I have never read or watched Game of Thrones. But I love this quote from George R.R. Martin. While I might find his books a little much for my taste, he has a point. Reading gives us the opportunity to live many lives before we die. And help us learn to live our life better too.

But what happens when we suck at reading?

This year, I had planned on reading 24 books this year. And to be honest with you, I only read 8 books this year. I think it has been the worst year in the last five in terms of my reading habits.

Which is funny, because most people barely read one book in a year. I have quoted that stat a few times before, but when I ask coworkers or friends, it does seem to be the case.

Before I begin to move forward, I thought I would look backward at my reading from this last year.

2019 Reading List

What books did I actually read this year? I had to work pretty hard at it to remember because I have had some very impressive gaps…
