Goal-Setting With Jesus

Because doing it on your own will only get you so far

As Christians, we are supposed to live our entire lives through the lens of our faith in Jesus. Yet, we spend much of our lives compartmentalizing our faith, our work, and our interactions with others.

This year, I realized I had been doing this in my life.

More specifically with the plans for my life and my goals. Foolishly enough, I thought that life planning and goal setting were things I should quit doing because I wasn’t placing my trust in Jesus. Especially over the plans that I had created for my life.

So, I gave up on life planning and goal setting altogether this year.

While this worked out okay for most of the year and I have still accomplished some great things, I have also realized how much giving up on these activities has hurt my life and has stunted my growth in becoming the person God created me to be.

When I first started out my goal-setting journey, I semi-spiritualized it with this quote from C.S. Lewis:

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
