Many, Lord are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us. Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound.
— Psalm 4:6–7

Joy isn’t dependent upon prosperity. But you might think so from reading this verse. Yet, prosperity can bring joy.

Yet, when David writes this, I have this sense that he is thinking of his people. He is thinking of Israel and how much he wants them to prosper. And it is in their prosperity that he wants to experience joy.

How often do you consider someone else’s prosperity when you are asking for joy in your own life?

Consider Psalm 4:6–7 today.

Are there people in your life that you would like to see prosper? Ask God for their prosperity and to bring you joy in it.
