Experiencing the Compassion of Jesus
Mark 1:40–42
A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said. Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed.

I had spent years thinking I had to do everything on my own. It was a strange realization for me, but I never understood why I worked so tirelessly and felt so alone in the middle of any project or task.
This of course led to other places where I kept to myself. I had always tried to make relationships work from my side only. They were always one way streets. Same for networking and connecting with friends.
Yet, it was in an experience with Jesus that I realized this stemmed from areas of neglect in my life. Neglect from the people who were supposed to take care of me and watch over me.
When I stepped into a moment of deep pain and invited Jesus into that moment, I saw compassion on his face as he invited me to the table. A table which brought healing and helped me to know that he had my back.
