Author Brand: You Are A Brand As A Self-Published Author
Once you embrace this reality, you can really build your platform
I looked in the mirror the other morning as I was getting ready to sit down and work on my book and I didn’t see a brand looking at me.
I saw a father of three who doesn’t sleep as much as he should. I saw a scruffy looking 30-something who needed a cup of coffee.
Yet, when I get behind the keyboard, I change. I turn into my author brand. No, I’m not trying to be fake or lie to you. But I am trying to communicate to you what is important to me and what I have to offer.
Thats a far cry from a sleep deprived dad who needs a shave.
As a self-published author, it is important to consider the fact that you are an author brand. What you write and communicate is your messaging and the way that your blog, email, and socials look share who you are as a writer.
If we don’t consider these things, we won’t build a successful and convincing author platform. And if we don’t do that well, then we aren’t going to sell books.
