Two-Minute Thoughts on Faith

Asking God And Not Receiving

What are your motives?

--

“You ask and do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request on your pleasures.” (James‬ ‭4:3, ‭NASB)

Have you asked God for something recently and felt like the prayer went unanswered? I’m sure you have. It happens to many of us. I used to think it was because God didn’t like what I asked for or maybe He has other plans.

Now, I wonder if it is more about my motives than my request.

Recently, I had this strange realization, my motives are more often self-seeking than they are God-seeking. And this could be the problem with my unanswered prayers.

Don’t get me wrong, I am seeking God, but am I seeking things for me?

Sure, this may lead to God-seeking for the sake of self-seeking. But I wonder if maybe, just maybe, we started changing the way we think about our lives and God’s involvement that we might start seeing more answered prayers.

What if, we start seeking God’s Kingdom and God’s Will first, and then everything else falls into place?

And if you want to grow your connection with God, grab my prayer and meditation guides!
