“You should consider reading the Psalms.”

I was sitting across from my pastor during a season of life where my wife and I were trying to have another baby. We had been trying for months. Doctors had said our other daughters were miracles.

It seemed that everything was stacked up against us. Especially since our first two daughters had been easy. But our third, was a new season and it was hard.

It was hard to believe that God was good. Each month we were hopeful and then hope failed. Yet, we knew God was good, but this did not feel good. It was one of the greatest struggles of me.

The Human Experience is Full of Peaks and Valleys

We experienced every peak and valley there was to experience during this time. Every peak was filled with more joy than the last. And every valley was so much harder than the last.

And right when I was at the end of my rope with the way I felt about everything, I was sitting with one of the pastor’s at my church and he suggested I read the book of Psalms.
