A Quick Thought About Fasting
Something I learned recently to share with you
We have recently started a prayer and fasting season in our local church. As part of it, I have helped write a guide for people to help them walk through this season.
As part of that guide, I did a little tidbit about fasting that I wanted to share today. Often enough, we think of starvation and being miserable when fasting. But, there are a couple of ways to go about it.
The Heart Behind Fasting
“Even now” declares the Lord “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity.” — Joel 2:12–13
Fasting is an act of wholeheartedly returning to God. It is important to remember why fasting is part of the church experience. That's why I wanted to share this with you. There are different kinds of fasting, but we will discuss two main types, partial and complete fasting.
Partial Fasting
