We need to get the right kind of rest

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. — Matthew 11:28, NLT

Many do not know what would bring them to rest in our world today. Yet, we don’t do anything to find that rest. We don’t book the trip to Hawaii, go up into the mountains, or even sit down for a few minutes to read a book.

However, Jesus shares with us how to find the rest we need. Vacations are great. So reading books, napping, and drinking that cup of coffee is okay for rest too. But Jesus is something more.

In many Christian circles, this is a cliche Bible verse. We hear it, use it, and then don’t believe what it says. There is a power to unlocking proper rest with this passage of scripture that can genuinely change your life.

The Kingdom of God is about Rest

Jesus shares this message because he tells people about the Kingdom of God. It is where weary and burdened people will not long experience these things. And Jesus knows weary and burdened.

He went to the cross and experienced the weariness of our world and the burdens we carry. Whether it’s stress in our lives…
