Joseph’s dreams remind us about God’s Kingdom
When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. — Matthew 1:24
I had a dream that changed everything for me. It was a dream which was so penetrating to my soul that I could not ignore it. It was also impactful because of how vivid and emotion-filled it felt. This dream, I clearly remembered and had a call to action in the end.
This call to action was disturbing too. I knew that I had to take action. Otherwise, I would be throwing my life away. And when I asked God about it, his answer removed any doubt from my mind about what I had to do.
He gives us dreams. We don’t always know what to do with them. But sometimes, they are clear calls to action. This is what happens when the Kingdom of God opens up to us.
Joseph’s Dream
The Gospel of Matthew starts with establishing the heritage line of Jesus. Then it steps right into the story of how Jesus comes to earth. First, we stop to learn that Mary is pregnant with Jesus before she is to marry Joseph. Joseph finds out and decides to call things off quietly.
Yet, the Kingdom of God opens up in his dreams, and the angel comes to him and tells him what he needs to do. God…
