I participated in every Christmas Pageant my church had from being a baby until I graduated from high school.

I fondly remember lighting Advent candles, reading the typical Christmas scriptures, and getting my bag full of peanuts, an orange, and a king-sized candy bar on the way home from Christmas Eve service.

As I grew up, I lost my excitement for Christmas and Advent. Through college, it was one more obligation to be part of when I came home. It wasn’t until years later that I started to come back to the Advent season and get a better understanding.

Now, as a parent, I have started gathering scripture and digging deeper into Advent to understand it for myself and help my children envision it.

Over the last two years, I have compiled so much that my kids encouraged me to turn it into a book and a devotional. And so, this year, that’s just what I did.
