Advent 2020
A Child Will Be Born To Us
Isaiah 9:6–7
For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
His government and its peace
will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David
for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
will make this happen!
(Isaiah 9:6–7, NLT)
The entire book of the Bible points to Jesus and the book of Isaiah is no exception. This passage tells of Jesus coming long before he did. It reminds us that God’s plan was for a savior to come.
As we look to this Christmas, we can all remember the beauty of this reality.
God came down to earth for us because he loves us. He wants us to be close to Him and to know Him. And this can be true thanks to Jesus. When we invite Jesus into our lives, we can know that God loves us.
Spend some time meditating today on the reality that Jesus was sent to save and to rule. Consider and pray these verses above over your life.
