A strange thing happens when we confess the sins in our lives.

It isn’t a fun thing. Most people don’t want to talk about sin. It isn’t comfortable for a few reasons.

First, most people are uncomfortable with the idea of sin because that is built into us. If God created us to be connected to him, then it makes sense we wouldn’t like things naturally that keep us from him.

Second, the church throws sin as a word into people’s faces, whether a sidewalk preacher is screaming at you or an elder at a church telling you what he thinks of your life.

Third, sin feels like an overly Christian word, which has turned people off. Often, the moment it comes up, people check out.

Here is what you need to know about it:

You need to confess it (tell Jesus what is going on) and repent of it (agree that you won’t do it anymore).

This is all well and good, but repentance is piece key. If you want to overcome it, you must decide you won’t chase whatever behavior you are pursuing and receive for God the power to do it.
