2021: A Breakout Year

Stop looking around at other writers on Medium.
It’s bad for your mental health and your writing. This is a problem we have right now on Medium, we get into the comparison game. We think we should be making more money, having more followers, and getting more views.
The truth is, you are right where you are supposed to be in your writing.
You might be sitting below 1,000 followers, making cents on the dollar, and feeling like no one reads your work. Guess what, there are a lot of writers in your situation on Medium.
Sure, you read the big names and how they are getting thousands of followers and thousands of dollars, but that's true for a small number of writers. Probably 1–3% if I had to guess.
You also might be somewhere in the middle. Your following is around a few thousand, your views recently dropped for no apparent reason, and you are actually making something here on Medium. This is a good place too.
However, I think 2021 could be really, really good for your writing. In fact, I think this year could be a breakout year. But only, if you do the work of a writer.
