When I was in college, I had a professor asked me if I graduated high school English class. My first paper came back to me with two different colors or pen marks on it because I had so many errors.

Not to say I hadn’t tried at it, I really did. I read it over and over, did the few things I knew to correct grammar, and had a friend read it through. In the end, he had me redo the paper because “it was so bad.”

That was 17 years ago.

Since that time, I have started several blogs, worked multiple jobs, graduated college, and published a book. Not bad for a guy who ‘might not have graduated high school English.’

This week, while I was thinking about this experience, I realized that over this time I have improved a great deal. Sure, there are plenty of editors who have seen my grammar mistakes in my articles (thank you for the private notes by the way), but overall, I…
