Every day, I read a quote that encourages me for the day. Sometimes it is a Bible verse, sometimes they are quotes from famous authors or historical figures, nonetheless, I read a quote to help me chase my dreams and be intentional with my faith and life. If you follow me on Instagram, you likely have seen one or two of these quotes I have read.

A few quotes I like best come from one of my favorite authors: C.S. Lewis.

C.S. Lewis — Author and a Pillar of Learning

He lived from 1898 to 1963 in England and was the author of dozens of books. He fought in World War I and was influenced deeply by his experiences on the front lines of the war. Coming back from war, he lost many good friends, but was not deterred from his studies and connection to story.

He befriended many great thinkers of the time, including J.R.R Tolkien who wrote Lord of the Rings and the two were part of a writing collective in England called The Inklings.

He was an atheist who became a Christian in his thirties. And after turning his life over to Jesus, everything changed. The more he learned about God’s Kingdom and his faith, the deeper he went into sharing it with others.

I have read many of his books and often refer back to them. One way he impacts me on a regular basis is how I have kept countless quotes from him. Today, I thought I would share 10 quotes from C.S. Lewis which continue to shape my life today, and might do the same for you.

One: On Failure

“Failures, repeated failures, are finger posts on the road to achievement.” — C.S. Lewis

Learning to get back up after we have failed or after something has not gone our way continues to point us down a path of discovery about who we are and where we are going. He has taught me we all need to fail sometimes.

Two: On Courage

“Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point.” —
